Senior Ecologist

Our Auckland team have an excellent opportunity for an outgoing individual to join their team. The position is ideal for someone who can deliver professional environmental science inputs into projects in the field of ecology; To assist building new work opportunities for WSP-Opus locally and nationally.

 
 
You will work alongside our Environmental team and assist with the development of a specialist contaminated land group at the Auckland office, leading initiatives to grow the contaminated land business in other offices within WSP/Opus.
 

 
The opportunity but not limited to:

 

  • Undertake consultancy tasks and provide input to multi-disciplinary projects in aspects of Ecology and Environmental Management including:
  1. Assessments of ecological effects (AEE’s) in a comprehensive and scientifically rigorous way;
  2. Provision of technically sound and objective environmental management advice to clients;
    1. scientific surveys and monitoring programmes that utilise accepted scientific methodology;
    2. desk-top literature reviews and analysis of existing data and information;
    3. organisation of, and presentation to, workshops, seminars and other community and client functions as required;
    4. preparation and presentation to scientific, industry and internal WSP-Opus audiences;
  • Act as Project Manager or Task Manager for projects, ensuring that all deliverables meet client's explicit and implicit needs.
  • Apply best practice to project management according to Our Way and specific initiatives being developed within the Division.
  • This may include auditing, monitoring and troubleshooting (all to be undertaken as project cost activities);
  • Actively seek feedback from clients and project teams reflecting on the performance of the team and apply knowledge learning principles.

 
You will have:
 

  • Post graduate degree in environmental science/ecology or equivalent
  • Professional Memberships
  • Current clean Drivers Licence.
  • A minimum of five years' experience working in a similar role across a large public/ private organisation
